Steelheads fall 7-6 to the Guelph Storm

The Guelph Storm defeated the Mississauga Steelheads 7-6 on Sunday afternoon at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Mississauga opened the scoring in the game as Zachary Lavoie got his first of the pre-season 11:17 in the first period. Guelph responded back a minute later on the power-play from a goal by Chalie Paquette.

Mississauga scored two goals before the end of the first period as Zachary Lavoie picked up his second goal of the game giving the Steelheads a 2-1 lead. Owen Beck added extra insurance to put Mississauga up 3-1 going into the first intermission.  

In the second period, Mississauga got a 6-3 lead as they got goals from Luke Misa, Callum Chisholm and Zachary Lavoie who got the hat-trick. The two goals from the Storm came from  Jake Karabela and Danny Zhilkin.

Going into the third period Guelph would score four unanswered goals to complete the back. The Storm cut the lead down to two-three minutes in the period as Chase Coughlan made the game 6-4. With five minutes left in the game, Guelph scored three goals in three minutes from Jacob Maillet, Jakob Macrae and Matthew Poitras. Poitras scored the game-winning goal to give the Storm a 7-6 lead.

Justin DiLauro was the starting goalie for the Steelheads, he made 28 saves on 35 shots allowing seven goals. 

Mississauga's pre-season record goes to 1-1. The Steelheads pre-season continues this Friday as they head to Kitchener to visit the Rangers puck drop is at 7:30 EST.
