The National Bank Open presented by Rogers men’s tournament is heating up at IGA Stadium in Montreal, with the Round of 16 now set. The 2026 men’s event runs August 2–13 and is an ATP Masters 1000 tournament. 

Canadian success

One of the best stories in Montreal has been the run of Canadian wild cards Duncan Chan and Alexis Galarneau in doubles. The pair reached the quarterfinals after defeating Grand Slam champions Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Kevin Krawietz 7–6(5), 7–6(3). 

Fonseca continues breakthrough

Brazilian teenager João Fonseca defeated Casper Ruud 7–6(6), 6–3 to reach the Round of 16 for the first time in Montreal. He now faces defending champion Ben Shelton, setting up one of Sunday’s most intriguing matches. 

Nakashima makes history

American Brandon Nakashima reached his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal, another major milestone in Montreal.

With the Round of 16 underway, the men’s draw is becoming increasingly unpredictable. Luciano Darderi also reached his first Masters-level hard-court quarterfinal, while Shelton remains one of the leading contenders to defend

Montreal has produced plenty of surprises, but the biggest story may be the emergence of younger players such as Fonseca and Nakashima. With the quarterfinals approaching, the 2026 National Bank Open is wide open.
