BOSTON - Brayan Bello took a no-hit bid into the 8th inning when the Marlins Jean Segura hit an infield single to spoil the effort with nobody out.  Miami followed that up with 3 more hits in the 8th to break a scoreless tie 1-0.

Bello (5-5) struck out five with one walk.  He was charged with an earned run when Chris Martin came in for relief and gave up an RBI single to Jon Berti that made the score 1-0.

Jazz Chisolm Jr. added a solo shot in the 9th to make it 2-0.

The Red Sox had just one hit in the first six innings against Marlins lefty Jesus Luzardo before chasing him in the seventh with consecutive singles by Rafael Devers and Adam Duvall.

Andrew Nardi (6-1) came in to releive Luzardo and pitched the Marlins out of trouble with a strke out against Masataka Yoshida and then he caught a line drive by Christian Arroyo at the mound.  Boston had just 4 hits for the game, and played poorly on defense.

A.J. Puk pitched the ninth for Miami and registered his 13th save of the season.

Bello and Luzardo's no-hit bids came one day after Yankees right hander Domingo German threw the first perfect game in MLB since 2012, and just the 24th perfect game in Major league history.
