905 fall in back-to-back games against the Skyhawks
The season hasn't started the way the Raptors 905 would've liked as they fall to 0-3 on the season after suffering a 108-95 loss to the College Park Skyhawks. This caps off a back-to-back at home against the Skyhawks, in which the 905 suffered substantial losses.
This game was hardly ever competitive. College Park quickly jumped out to a 26-11 lead in the first quarter. Their three-point shot was falling early despite the team shooting just 27 percent on the night. The 905 would make a 12-4 run on behalf of some great finishes by Makur Maker. Although nearly every player on the team except for one finished with a negative net rating, Maker's was the best of the starters with -8, while the rest of the starters were within the 20s.
The 905 couldn't stop Seth Lundy who finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Chris Silva also contributed 18 points on a very efficient 5-7 shooting from the field. An overall great night offensively for the Skyhawks.
As quickly as the 905 cut the lead to single digits in the second quarter, the lead was 19 going into the half. A lead that the Skyhawks would hold onto for the remainder of the game.
Darryl Morsell did not suit up tonight and was greatly missed for the 905. The offensive flow in the halfcourt was a struggle despite Markquis Nowell's efforts at spearheading this team. The scrappy point guard finished with 14 points and eight assists. The team as a whole was pressured heavily on offence committing 21 turnovers compared to College Park's 10.
The 905 falls to 0-3 on the season as the Skyhawks improve to 2-0 completing the sweep in Mississauga. There's not much to say about these past performances without taking into consideration the state of the team due to injuries. They will get prepared for their next matchup against the Greensboro Swarm on Friday at 7 PM ET.
