The Golden State Warriors made their presence felt in Game 1 with a 112-87 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. This game was never closed and Golden State never looked back. Defense and offense were clicking on all cylinders and it was fuelled by an unexpected hero, Andrew Wiggins.

Although Steph Curry finished with a team-high 21 points, Wiggins set the tone, especially in the first half. The former first overall pick was getting to his spots and showed glimpses of his former Timberwolves self.  Andrew Wiggins finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists. It was apparent that the Warriors wanted Luka Doncic to work on the defensive end, and Wiggins did just that.

Doncic didn't look like the same superstar we saw in Game 7 against the Phoenix Suns and much of the credit has to go to the Warriors' defence. They were very aggressive with their coverage and reluctant to be switch-heavy. Whoever was guarding Doncic would fight over screens and not allow Luka to get the matchup he wanted.

Luka finished with 20 points on just 6-18 shooting from the field and received no help from his supporting cast. Spencer Dinwiddie scored 17 points off the bench but was relentlessly attacked on the defensive end and began to look very fatigued.

As a team, the Mavericks shot 36 percent from the field compared to the Warriors who shot 56 percent. Clearly not a performance that will be consistent for the remainder of the series. Golden State also dominated on the glass, outrebounding Dallas 52-34. But it was a wake-up call that the Warriors aren't a team to take likely.

Game 2 has the potential to look very different in terms of results, however, could definitely go the same way if Dallas isn't able to make adjustments. These two teams will face off again Friday at 9 PM ET.
