Raptors pull off 23-point comeback to defeat the Wizards 111-107
In a game that perfectly sums up the season thus far, the Toronto Raptors complete the resilient 23-point comeback against the Washington Wizards for a 111-107 victory. A tale of two halves for Toronto that Pascal Siakam spearheaded.
This was a game that the Raptors had to get out of the mud. O.G. Anunoby joined Gary Trent Jr. on the unavailable list due to injury causing Toronto to be even more shorthanded. The offensive woes from the matchup against the Celtics seemed to have spilled over into tonight's game.
Kyle Kuzma was simply lighting Toronto's defence up as they had no answer for him. He finished with 34 points. He took full advantage of the absence of Anunboy, getting to his spots on the court and making anyone in front of him pay. His efforts on offence combined with Toronto's early shooting struggles made for a truly ugly game. However, someone would change that.
Despite an up-and-down season thus far, when things got tough Toronto leaned on their proven star player to lead them out. Pascal Siakam was truly sensational. He finished with a season-high 39 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. A masterful performance that single-handedly willed this team to victory. This included the go-ahead shot within the final 15 seconds of the game that would solidify the victory for the Raptors.
He wasn't alone in his contributions as Scottie Barnes had a great game as well. Continuing his stellar play to start the season, Barnes added 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and five steals. The energy from these two trickled down to the rest allowing Toronto to complete this improbable comeback.
The Raptors are back at .500 with a 5-5 record. They will be taking on the Milwaukee Bucks for the second time this season as they will be looking for revenge on Wednesday at 7:30 PM ET>
