Boris Bede Makes 4/6 Field Goals

The Boatmen finished their preseason against the rival Tiger-Cats and came out victorious thanks to a waning moment field goal kick from Boris Bede. Bede made four of six field goal attempts tonight with scores coming from 21, 25, 18, and 33-yards.

Chad Kelly threw Toronto's only touchdown of the night to Isaiah Wright, partway through the second quarter.

Hamilton scored in a couple of ways. They put up the game's first points in the first quarter after Lawrence Woods returned a punt 99 yards to the house. Seth Small added a 51-yard field goal in the first half's final minute.

The Ti-Cats' other points came courtesy of a 34-yard touchdown pass from Jamie Newman to Anthony Johnson and a dead ball single after a punt.

In the turnover department, Toronto had one interception while Hamilton picked off two passes. The Argonauts' lone takeaway came courtesy of Deion Harris on a ball thrown by Jalen Morton while Ti-Cats Michael Witherspoon and Stavros Katsantonis each snagged one interception each, thrown by Chad Kelly and Austin Simmons.

There were more injuries than you'd like to see in any game, let alone a preseason contest, with six plays resulting in banged-up players. The Refs were active tonight, throwing 22 total penalty flags. Most came in the third quarter after many reserves came in, so we'll hope to see fewer orange markers flying around once week one rolls around.

Neither team managed to generate consistent offense with 17 punts making their way back and forth across the field tonight. They'll look to find some more consistency moving forward to avoid falling behind early in the east.

Both teams will now look forward to their respective first games of the year. Hamilton plays in week one, battling against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, while Toronto won't play until June 16th against the Montreal Alouettes.
