The two things you don't want before the season

The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to defend their Super Bowl title starting this Thursday against the much hyped Detroit Lions but the biggest obstacle facing the Chiefs may be themselves.

Going into the game it is looking like they will be taking the field without 2 of the top 100 players in the league, as Chris Jones is still holding out for a bigger payday than the $20 Million he has coming this season and Travis Kelce is now very questionable with a hyperextended knee injury from practice on Tuesday.

As of this writing Jones has made his first non social media statement in weeks saying "I'm just asking for a raise." While saying he doesn't feel he is letting the team down. While Kelce is getting treatment on his knee following a good sign that his ACL and other Ligaments are good and sound.

It seems like a safe bet that the swelling in Kelce's knee will resolve before Jones agrees to a bigger raise than the one the Chiefs have already offered.

All of this just means it's go time for the rest of the roster to do what Dynastic Teams do. Step up and be stars on their first contract.
On the offense Sky Moore will need to play the role that JuJu Smith Schuster did last year and pick up the volume receptions while creating space for himself in the Mesh route areas. Backup TightEnd (a good fantasy pickup) Noah Gray will need to continue growing to give the escape hatch to Patrick Mahomes that Kelce does and Isiah Pacheco will need to show he's shaken off the injuries that kept him basically out of the pre-season.

Defense will be a challenge as well with the top two pass rushers out with Jones and free agent signee Charles Omenihu out for the first 6 weeks, Michael Dana is your veteran pass rusher. Youth will be served with George Karlaftis and Felix Anudike-Uzomah having to carry load and keep the team from over relying on the Blitz.

On top of that Mahomes just needs to be Mahomes, easy, right. If all that happens the Chiefs will go to 1-0 and Jared Goff and the Lions will have to restore the roar starting week 2.
