Leafs score four in second, drop seven on Oilers for second straight win
The Toronto Maple Leafs came back for their second straight win by a score of 7-4. Matt Murray made his first start at home since January 11th and stopped 22 of 26.
He was tested early after a Noel Acciari goal put the buds up one, Mattias Ekholm scored his first as an Oiler on the first shot of the game for Murray to tie things up 22 seconds later.
Evander Kane scored his 10th of the season to put the Oilers up 2-1 to close out the first.
Connor McDavid continues his tear this season with his 55th to put Edmonton up one. McDavid got three points again against the Leafs brining him to 127 points in 67 games.
After this the Leafs scored four goals in six minutes. The first was an absolute beauty by Mitch Marner, intercepting a pass in front of Stuart Skinner and putting on a barrage of moves before potting it. Nylander followed that up just under two minutes later to tie the game at three.
Tavares closed out the second with two goals of his own including one on the powerplay for his 30th of the season set up by Marner. Marner finished this one with a goal and three assists giving him six points in his last two games and 83 on the season.
Auston Matthews got in on the action with his 30th of the season on the powerplay for the Leafs sixth goal of the game. Matthews is on a two-game goal streak and has scored 30 or more in his seven-year career.
Leon Draisaitl scored on the powerplay to cut the deficit to two, but Noel Acciari buried his second of the game on the empty net and third with the Buds to ice it 7-4.
For the Leafs this is their second straight win, tying the season series with the Oilers at one a piece. They stay home to take on the Buffalo Sabres Monday.
