Martone gets a hat-trick, Mississauga beats Kingston 4-2
The Mississauga Steelheads (9-3-0) were back in action Saturday afternoon against the Kingston Frontenacs (5-7-0).
Mississauga is coming off a 6-1 loss last night to the Barrie Colts.
In the first period, Mississauga and Kingston got chances, but the puck wasn’t going in the net. With the period winding down, Steelheads forward Marc Boudreau fell on the ice and batted the puck in the air past Kingston goaltender Mason Vaccari to make it 1-0 for the Steelheads.
Kingston wasted no time in the second period to tie the game 1-1. The Frontenacs got a two-on-one, and Paul Ludwinski made no mistake putting the puck in the back of the net.
The Frontenacs would get a power-play later on in the period. Jacob Holmes was left wide open, and his one-timer went past Jack Ivankovic’s glove, giving Kingston a 2-1 lead.
In the third period, Mississauga would go on the power play, and Porter Martone would tie the game up for Mississauga, making it 2-2.
With three minutes left in the game, Luke Misa came down the wing and threw the puck in front of the net, and Porter Martone buried the rebound past Vaccari, giving Mississauga a 3-2 lead.
Porter Marton would get his third goal of the game, scoring into the empty net, making it 4-2 for Mississauga, which would be the final score.
Jack Ivankovic faced 32 shots, making 30 saves, getting his first win on home ice.
Mississauga's next game will be Friday, November 3rd, vs. the Saginaw Spirit.
