Toronto Marlies Fall To Belleville Senators in First Half of Back-to-Back

The Toronto Marlies fell 2-1 to the Belleville Senators in overtime on Friday night. Toronto falls to 3-1-2-0 on the season.
In the first period, both teams exchanged chances, but both goaltenders stood tall as the score remained 0-0 after 20 minutes of play. In the middle frame, it was Topi Niemelä who broke through for the Marlies on the power play, scoring his second of the season at 6:51.
In the third period, the Senators responded with a power play goal of their own from Roby Jarventie at 16:23 to tie the game at one. 60 minutes wasn’t enough as the game went to overtime. In the extra frame, the Senators completed the comeback thanks to Jacob Larsson who scored just 43 seconds into the frame to secure the win for the home side.
The two teams meet again on Saturday night in Belleville. Puck drop is at 7:00pm on AHLTV.
