Tuch scores two, Leafs drop tight one 4-3 to Sabres
The Toronto Maple Leafs play four times this week and started it off with a 4-3 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres. This was the Leafs first loss to the Sabres this year, they lead the season series 2-1.
Matt Murray got his second straight start at home since returning from injury. He allowed all four goals on 29 shots.
There was no scoring in the first, but the Maple Leafs got the first two goals with Auston Matthews grabbing his 31st of the season. Alex Kerfoot made a smart play kicking the puck back to the front of the net for Matthews for the easy tap in. Matthews has three goals in his last three games.
Calle Jarnkrok scored next for the Buds, but Jack Quinn made it a one goal game before.
Alex Tuch scored two and Dylan Cozens helped put the Sabres up 4-2 for majority of the third.
William Nylander got things close with a minute left in the contest and the net empty to bring things closer, but Craig Anderson stood tall. Anderson allowed three goals on 28 shots.
Toronto is unable to grab their 90th point of the season as they look ahead to the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche Wednesday.
