Australia defeats Spain to kick off games in Paris

The Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament is underway in Paris, and it’s Australia that starts on the front foot.

It was new Bulls player Josh Giddey who led the Aussies to a 92-80 victory over Spain. Giddey became the first player to have at least 15 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in his first Olympic appearance since Drazen Petrovic in 1984.

Houston Rockets center Jock Landale had an impressive 20 points and nine rebounds in their win.

Both teams will be back in action. On Tuesday, Australia will square off in Canada, while Spain takes on Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece.
