It has been three matchdays since the beginning of the Euros. Many teams have fought hard for their place in the prestigious competition, while others have suffered. Now, it is time to move into the round of 16 and gradually see which country lifts the cup.
In Group A, Germany and Switzerland have advanced directly to the next round. In Group B, Spain and Italy have emerged, with Croatia experiencing a disappointing departure. Group C sees England and Denmark advancing, although England topped the group with only 5 points in what wasn’t their best display. Group D has been the most riveting, with Austria securing the top spot alongside France in second place. Ralf Rangnick should be especially proud of his men for beating the likes of the Netherlands to top the group. Group E was won by Romania, with Belgium joining them in the knockout stages. Group F saw Portugal clinching the top spot, followed by Turkiye in second place.
Now, it’s time for the round of 16 matchups. Switzerland will face the reigning champions Italy. Host nation Germany will take on Denmark. France will go up against Belgium. In a shock result where Georgia defeated Portugal 2-0, England will face Slovakia in the round of 16. Spain will play against Georgia. Portugal will look to bounce back against Slovenia. Romania will face the Netherlands, and Group D winners Austria will meet Turkiye.
It will be very interesting to see which teams emerge victorious and advance to the quarter-finals of the UEFA European Championship 2024.
