Impressive performance not enough as Raptors fall to the Suns

The Phoenix Suns secured a 120-113 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night, propelled by a stellar performance from Kevin Durant, who scored 35 points, and Grayson Allen, who added 26 points. Bradley Beal contributed 20 points and eight assists for the Suns, who maintained control throughout the game.

Durant displayed his scoring prowess, shooting 11 of 19 from the field, while Allen made a significant impact in the first half, setting a franchise record with seven 3-pointers in the opening quarter.

Despite missing injured All-Star Devin Booker, the Suns established a commanding 14-point lead at halftime. Although the Raptors attempted to narrow the gap, cutting it to 89-82 entering the fourth quarter and later to 96-93, Phoenix’s Bol Bol responded with a crucial basket, preventing the Raptors from closing in further.

Bol finished the game with 11 points and eight rebounds in just 16 minutes of play, contributing to the Suns’ impressive home record of 10 wins in their last 12 games.

Immanuel Quickley was sensational for the Raptors finishing with 21 points and a career-high 18 assists. Gary Trent Jr. had one of his best games of the season with 30 points, while RJ Barrett contributed 23 points.

The Suns, currently holding the No. 6 spot in the Western Conference, are determined to secure their position and avoid the play-in tournament, where only the top six seeds in each conference advance directly to the opening round.

Toronto faced challenges without All-Star Scottie Barnes and defensive anchor, Jakob Poeltl. The Raptors will get a day’s rest before heading to Oregon to take on the Portland Trailblazers on Saturday March 9, at 10 PM ET.
