Toronto FC win against New York Red Bulls in Leagues Cup

Toronto FC made their Leagues Cup debut today against the New York Red Bulls. The Leagues Cup features teams from MLS and Liga MX, with 47 teams competing in the competition.

Toronto FC won their first match in the Leagues Cup in a penalty shootout. The match was closely contested, with both teams missing chances and the game eventually going to penalties. Insigne missed the first shot for Toronto in the shootout, and it came down to the final penalty kick for New York Red Bulls. This is where the man of the match, Toronto FC’s goalkeeper Sean Johnson, made a decisive impact by saving three penalty kicks in a row, securing a 5-4 shootout victory for Toronto.

Toronto FC will now face Liga MX team Pachuca on August 4th, hoping to secure another win and advance further in their first-ever Leagues Cup competition.
