The Toronto Maple Leafs (0-1-0) are back in action tonight against the New Jersey Devils (2-0-0).
Toronto is coming off a 1-0 loss last night in their season opener against the Montreal Canadiens. It was the first time Toronto had been shutout in three years.
New Jersey has had an excellent start to the season winning both of their games in Prague at the NHL Global Series to begin the 2024-25 season.
This meeting will be the first of three this season. Last year, the Devils won the season series against the Maple Leafs.
Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe will coach against his former team for the first time in his coaching career. Keefe coached the Maple Leafs from 2019-2024, having a record of 212-97-40.
It is expected that Dennis Hildeby will make his first career NHL start in net for the Maple Leafs.
Jacob Markstrom will be the starting goalie for the Devils’ in their home opener.
