I’m still sticking with Montreal for the 112th Grey Cup, but here are a few fresh updates worth keeping an eye on:
- On Saskatchewan’s side, KeeSean Johnson (knee) and Joe Robustelli (head) have officially been ruled out for the game.
- Johnson was a major target all season (1,159 receiving yards), so his absence leaves a noticeable hole in the Riders’ passing game.
- Meanwhile, Ajou Ajou has been taking more reps in practice and is reportedly ready to step in.
On Montreal’s end, Davis Alexander’s left hamstring continues to be a concern. While he’s said to be feeling better after a strong practice, there’s still some uncertainty around his mobility.
Something else interesting: the Riders are leaning into their Canadian roots as many of their key players grew up in Canada or played at Canadian U-Sports schools, which adds a special “homegrown” flavour to this Cup.
That kind of depth and connection could make a big difference in a high-pressure game.
So, despite the injuries, I’m sticking with Montreal because their balance, their poise in tight games, and Alexander’s resilience still give them the edge, ut make no mistake: Saskatchewan has the heart, the grit, and a shot (especially if their depth steps up).
Let’s hope for a classic showdown and here’s to next year, when maybe the Argos are the ones in this conversation.
