The Toronto Blue Jays suffered a heartbreaking 7–6, 12-inning loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, missing a chance to complete a three-game sweep.
Toronto fell behind but battled back from a 5–2 deficit, tying the game 5–5 with a three-run eighth inning.
The Jays briefly moved ahead 6–5 in the top of the 12th, but Philadelphia answered with two runs in the bottom half.
Derek Hill delivered the walk-off RBI single for Philadelphia.
Kyle Schwarber was the major offensive force for the Phillies, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs.

Shane Bieber allowed five earned runs over 5⅔ innings, including two Schwarber homers. Toronto’s bullpen then kept the Jays within striking distance through regulation and the early extra innings.

Toronto won the first two games of the series but couldn’t finish the sweep. The Jays head home from Philadelphia having shown plenty of fight, but the 12-inning defeat highlighted the importance of converting scoring opportunities in extra innings.
