ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — The Milwaukee Brewers have reached the summit of Major League Baseball, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4–1 in Game 5 to secure the first World Series championship in franchise history.

Behind a brilliant pitching performance from Jacob Misiorowski and a clutch offensive contribution from rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt, Milwaukee completed its championship run Wednesday night.

The Brewers answered Tampa Bay’s extra-inning victory in Game 4 with a composed, disciplined performance that silenced the home crowd and brought a long-awaited celebration to Milwaukee.

The championship ends a 57-year wait for the franchise, which began play as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 before relocating to Milwaukee the following season.

Second Inning — Brewers Strike First

Milwaukee opened the scoring when rookie Cooper Pratt delivered an RBI single, bringing home the game’s first run.

The Brewers established the tone with patient at-bats and timely hitting against Tampa Bay starter Drew Rasmussen.

Fifth Inning — Milwaukee Adds Insurance

David Hamilton singled home another run to extend the Brewers’ advantage to 2–0.

Tampa Bay needed a response, but Misiorowski continued to limit the Rays’ opportunities.

Sixth Inning — Championship Cushion

William Contreras doubled home a run, and Pratt followed with a sacrifice fly.

Milwaukee moved ahead 4–0, putting the Brewers three innings away from their historic championship.

Ninth Inning — Rays Avoid the Shutout

Chandler Simpson doubled home Tampa Bay’s only run.

The Rays mounted a late effort, but Milwaukee’s bullpen completed the job, sealing the 4–1 victory and triggering the Brewers’ championship celebration.

World Series Game 5 — Key Performers

Cooper Pratt, Brewers: Went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

He became the first rookie in World Series history to record a hit in six consecutive plate appearances.

William Contreras, Brewers: Produced the important RBI double in the sixth inning and helped put the game beyond Tampa Bay’s reach.

World Series MVP

William Contreras — Milwaukee Brewers

Contreras earned World Series Most Valuable Player honours as Milwaukee completed its championship run.

His leadership behind the plate and contributions at the plate were central to the Brewers’ title-winning campaign.

Three Keys to Milwaukee’s Championship

Dominant starting pitching: Misiorowski shut down Tampa Bay’s offence and gave Milwaukee control of the game.

Timely offensive execution: Pratt, Hamilton and Contreras delivered run-producing hits when the Brewers needed them.

Bullpen execution: Milwaukee protected its four-run lead and prevented Tampa Bay from building a ninth-inning rally into a serious threat.

Final Verdict

Milwaukee Brewers 4, Tampa Bay Rays 1.

World Series: Brewers win 4–1.

Milwaukee’s championship was the culmination of a remarkable postseason, built on pitching, aggressive baserunning, timely hitting and contributions from emerging young players.

After the Rays fought off elimination with a dramatic 12-inning victory in Game 4, the Brewers responded with a disciplined performance in the deciding game.

For the Brewers, this was more than a championship.

It was the first World Series title in franchise history and a defining moment for the organization and its fans.

The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for 2026.
