The Toronto Marlies announced a major coaching change this week, officially naming Steve Sullivan as the club’s new head coach. Sullivan becomes the ninth head coach in franchise history.
Sullivan spent the 2025–26 season as an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs after previously serving on the Marlies’ coaching staff. He replaces John Gruden, who was promoted to the Maple Leafs’ coaching staff after leading the Marlies to the 2026 Calder Cup championship.
The Marlies also announced that Mark Giordano has been promoted to assistant coach. He will work alongside goaltending coach Hannu Toivonen and video coach Nick Biamonte on Sullivan’s staff.
