TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Detroit Tigers 5–1 on Wednesday afternoon at Rogers Centre, bouncing back from Tuesday’s 10–1 loss and avoiding a series sweep. 

Game Summary

Toronto broke through in the fourth inning. Ernie Clement delivered a sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI single from Myles Straw, giving the Blue Jays a 2–1 advantage. 

George Springer added an RBI single in the fifth, while Toronto’s offense continued to pressure Detroit’s pitching.

The Blue Jays also benefited from defensive miscues by the Tigers, including consecutive errors that helped Clement score.
