In the East, the Montreal Alouettes have secured first place, while the Toronto Argonauts have clinched second.

Toronto can now use its final two regular-season games to prepare for the Eastern Semi-Final. Ottawa, meanwhile, is still searching for its first win of the season.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats have the bye week

The storyline: Toronto returns from its bye week looking to sharpen its execution before the playoffs.

Quarterback Chad Kelly’s availability is an important development after his hand injury.

Ottawa has endured a winless season and will be desperate to finally break through.

Three keys to victory

Toronto must establish its running game and protect the football.

Kelly’s health and passing accuracy will be worth watching.

Ottawa needs to turn promising drives into touchdowns instead of field goals.

Prediction: Toronto Argonauts 31, Ottawa REDBLACKS 17

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Edmonton Elks

Friday, October 16 · 9:30 p.m. ET

The storyline: This is one of the weekend’s most consequential games.

Edmonton can clinch first place in the West with a victory, while Winnipeg can secure a playoff berth with a win. Zach Collaros’ return gives the Blue Bombers an important boost

Three keys to victory

Winnipeg must maintain pressure on Edmonton’s defence and sustain long drives.

Edmonton needs to control possession and take advantage of scoring opportunities.

Turnovers and special-teams execution could decide a tight contest.

Prediction: Winnipeg Blue Bombers 27, Edmonton Elks 24.

Upset watch: Winnipeg has considerable motivation and could spoil Edmonton’s opportunity to clinch the division.

Montreal Alouettes at Saskatchewan Roughriders

Saturday, October 17 · 3 p.m. ET

The storyline: Montreal has already secured the East Division title, but Saskatchewan is fighting to keep its playoff hopes alive.

The Roughriders have lost four consecutive games and need a stronger performance from both their offence and defence.

Three keys to victory

Saskatchewan must improve its quarterback play and reduce offensive mistakes.

The Riders’ defence cannot allow Montreal’s receivers to find open space downfield.

Montreal must manage its lineup carefully while maintaining competitive intensity.

Prediction: Saskatchewan Roughriders 26, Montreal Alouettes 23.

Saskatchewan’s urgency makes the home side a dangerous opponent, although Montreal has the form to make this a difficult afternoon.

BC Lions at Calgary Stampeders

Saturday, October 17 · 7 p.m. ET

The storyline: BC arrives in Calgary among the league’s hottest teams, having won nine of its last 10 games.

The Lions can secure a home playoff game with a win. Calgary, playing its final regular-season game, faces an urgent need for victory to preserve its postseason chances.

Three keys to victory

BC must continue generating defensive pressure and forcing difficult throws.

Calgary needs an efficient offence capable of scoring touchdowns consistently.

The Stampeders must limit explosive plays and avoid falling behind early.

Prediction: BC Lions 30, Calgary Stampeders 20

BC has the stronger recent momentum, but Calgary’s playoff situation could produce an aggressive, high-intensity performance.

Final outlook: CFL Week 20 could settle several major playoff questions before the final weekend of the regular season.

Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and Calgary face enormous pressure, while Edmonton and BC are battling for the best possible postseason positioning.

Expect an intense weekend in which every possession, turnover and special-teams play could have significant consequences
