The Denver Broncos defeated the Seattle Seahawks 17–14 in overtime on Thursday night, delivering a dramatic home victory behind a dominant defensive performance and a clutch game-winning field goal from Wil Lutz.

Denver built a 14–3 halftime lead before Seattle rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

However, a costly interception by Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold gave the Broncos the opportunity they needed, and Lutz converted a 53-yard field goal to end the contest.

Game Breakdown

First quarter — Seattle strikes first

The Seahawks opened the scoring with a 55-yard field goal from Jason Myers.

Denver’s defense kept Seattle from establishing a consistent offensive rhythm, however, setting the tone for a night in which every possession mattered.

Second quarter — Denver takes control

The Broncos found their offensive breakthrough in the second quarter.

Running back J.K. Dobbins scored on a four-yard touchdown run, and rookie running back RJ Harvey added a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Those two scores gave Denver a 14–3 halftime advantage.

The Broncos’ defense also recovered a fumble and kept Seattle’s passing attack under pressure, leaving the Seahawks searching for answers.

Third quarter — Defensive battle continues

Neither offence managed to find the end zone in the third quarter.

Denver continued to disrupt Darnold with pressure, while Seattle’s defense kept Bo Nix and the Broncos from extending their lead.

A missed 47-yard field goal by Myers proved significant, denying Seattle an opportunity to cut further into the deficit.

Fourth quarter — Seahawks force overtime

Seattle finally found its breakthrough late in regulation.

George Holani scored on a one-yard touchdown run, and Darnold connected with Rashid Shaheed for the successful two-point conversion.

The Seahawks had cut Denver’s lead to 14–11, then completed the comeback to tie the game at 14–14 and force overtime.

After struggling for much of the night, Seattle’s offence had given its team another chance.

Overtime — McMillian and Lutz finish the job

The decisive moment came when Denver defensive back Ja’Quan McMillian intercepted Darnold, ending Seattle’s overtime possession and handing the Broncos a crucial turnover.

Denver capitalized on the opportunity. Lutz stepped up and drilled a 53-yard field goal to secure the 17–14 victory, sending the home crowd into celebration

Three Takeaways

Denver’s defence wins the night.

The Broncos repeatedly pressured Darnold, forced turnovers and produced the interception that decided the game.

Seattle showed resilience. Trailing by 11 points in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks fought back to force overtime.

Turnovers remain a concern. Darnold’s interception in overtime proved especially costly after Seattle had worked so hard to recover.

Final Verdict

The Broncos earned a hard-fought victory by combining defensive pressure with timely special-teams execution.

Their offence struggled to sustain momentum after halftime, but the defence delivered when it mattered most.

Seattle deserves credit for battling back, yet its late comeback was undone by one decisive mistake.
