Another Rough Ride for the Boatmen

Well, that one hurt. The Toronto Argonauts fell to the Saskatchewan Roughriders yesterday, and if we’re being honest, the Riders looked every bit like the powerhouse they’ve been this season. They’ve been rolling through opponents lately, and unfortunately, the Argos just couldn’t slow them down. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are absolutely one of the top teams in the 2025 CFL. I mean, they do have one of the best records in the league.

It’s been that kind of year for Toronto, mixed with flashes of potential followed by extreme frustration. The game started with a bit of energy, and for a moment, it even felt like maybe, just maybe, the Argos were ready to surprise everyone. But as the night went on, Saskatchewan’s confidence and rhythm took over. They looked sharp, disciplined, and like a team already thinking about playoff matchups. The Argos, on the other hand, looked like they were still searching for answers.

A Season That Never Found Its Spark

From the start of the season, things just haven’t clicked. There were moments where the offense showed some life and a few defensive stands that gave fans a reason to hope, but consistency has been the real problem. The Argos would string together a few solid drives, only to see them undone by penalties or missed opportunities.

Yesterday’s game was another example of that story. Saskatchewan capitalized on every mistake. Their offense moved the ball with confidence, and their defense made life tough for Toronto’s quarterbacks. The Boatmen tried to push back, but it always felt like they were playing catch-up.

The Reality of the Standings

Looking at the standings now, it’s pretty clear this isn’t going to be our year. The Argos are sitting at the bottom of the East, while the Roughriders are cruising toward the postseason. Toronto’s playoff hopes aren’t just fading, they’re basically gone. Even if everything went right from here, it just wouldn’t be enough.

That said, there’s still pride to play for. These final games matter for the fans and the players who want to show that they haven’t given up. Every snap, every drive, every bit of effort counts when you’re trying to build toward something better.

Looking Ahead

It’s easy to feel frustrated, but longtime fans know this story all too well. Seasons like this happen. Injuries, inconsistency, and just plain bad luck can take a toll. But the foundation is still there. With a strong offseason and some fresh faces, this team can turn things around faster than people think.

I’ve been following the Argos long enough to know that even when it feels hopeless, there’s always another chapter coming. This year might be a write-off, but next season could be the reset we need.

At Least Toronto Still Has Baseball

It’s tough to watch the Boatmen struggle like this, especially after the highs of recent seasons. But hey, isn’t that what being a Toronto sports fan is all about? We ride the waves, even when the water’s rough, really rough. And if you’re looking for a reason to smile this week, at least the Toronto Blue Jays are giving us something to believe in!

Here’s to better days, better drives, and a better season ahead. Go Argos (always) BUT RIGHT NOW…

October baseball is in Toronto, playoff baseball is here, and just saying that out loud feels amazing!

👏 Go Jays Go 👏
