Week 12 of the 2026 Canadian Football League season delivered a clear message: the Montreal Alouettes remain the class of the East, Edmonton continues to control the West, and the playoff race behind the leaders is tightening.
Montreal 46, Ottawa 16
The Montreal Alouettes continued their dominant season by overwhelming the Ottawa REDBLACKS 46-16 on Thursday night.
Montreal improved to 9-1, while Ottawa remained winless at 0-10. The Alouettes broke the game open with an 18-point second quarter and added another 14 points in the third.
Montreal’s offensive balance and defensive pressure proved too much for Ottawa, which could not sustain drives or slow the Alouettes after halftime.
Edmonton 22, Winnipeg 19
The Edmonton Elks rallied from behind to defeat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 22-19 on Friday.
Winnipeg led 16-6 at halftime, but Edmonton’s defence tightened up and the Elks scored 16 unanswered points across the second half to complete the comeback.
The victory moved Edmonton to 8-3, strengthening its hold on first place in the West. Winnipeg fell to 5-5.
Toronto 39, Hamilton 20
The Toronto Argonauts continued their strong play at BMO Field, defeating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 39-20 on Saturday.
Toronto took a 12-7 lead after the opening quarter, and after Hamilton briefly moved ahead 17-15, the Argos seized control. Toronto scored 24 of the final 27 points to pull away.
The victory improved Toronto to 5-5, while Hamilton dropped to 4-7.
Toronto’s performance was particularly important after the Argonauts suffered a 42-12 loss to Edmonton in Week 11. The response against Hamilton gives Toronto valuable momentum heading deeper into the playoff race.
BC Lions 30, Saskatchewan Roughriders 16
The BC Lions capped Week 12 with an impressive 30-16 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday.
BC controlled the game and handed Saskatchewan its second consecutive defeat. The Roughriders dropped to 6-4, while BC improved to 5-5 and moved back into the crowded Western playoff picture.
The Lions’ recent surge continued, with Nathan Rourke once again leading the offence. BC’s ability to control the line of scrimmage and limit Saskatchewan’s big plays proved decisive.
