English Premier League matchday 19 of 38 recap

The halfway point of this EPL season is finally here, and the table standings are the most surprising they have been in recent years. The reigning champions, Manchester City, have been having their worst season in the last six years and are currently sixth in the table. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest has been enjoying a fairytale season and is currently third in the table.

This week, Liverpool, who are nine points clear at the top, proved why they deserve to stay there with a thrilling 5-0 win against West Ham. Chelsea dropped points against Ipswich Town, losing 2-0. Arsenal secured a comfortable 3-1 victory against Brentford, putting them in second place. The troubles of Manchester United and their newly appointed manager continue as they lost 2-0 to Newcastle. Manchester City managed a 2-0 win against Leicester City.

Next week, all eyes will be on Manchester United vs. Liverpool. This match is a rivalry that has lasted decades, and even with United’s recent poor form, they will look to make a statement against the number one team.
