Fiba World Champions Germany open strong

Germany defeat Japan 97-77 as they hope to repeat their success from the World Cup last summer and for a third straight podium at the Olympic Games.

Franz Wagner of the Orlando Magic had 22 points and six rebounds, while Dennis Schroder, Daniel Theis, and Moritz Wagner combined for 33 points. 

Next up, Japan faces host France, while Germany takes on Brazil.
