The deal is reportedly about US$11 million below the maximum Leonard could have received over the two extension years, while he also waived his US$7.5 million trade kicker.
Leonard originally returned to Toronto through the blockbuster trade with the Clippers that was finalized earlier this month. He previously led the Raptors to their 2019 NBA championship and won Finals MVP.
This effectively gives Toronto a long-term commitment to Leonard alongside Scottie Barnes as the Raptors reshape their roster around their returning superstar.
