Argos Rally Past Bombers in Winnipeg Thriller, 30–28
The Toronto Argonauts delivered another dramatic road victory Friday night, defeating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 30–28 at Princess Auto Stadium.
The victory extended Toronto’s winning streak to four games and improved the Argonauts to 9–6.
Game Story
Toronto’s offence leaned heavily on the passing game, with quarterback Chad Kelly throwing for 290 yards and two touchdowns.
Wide receiver Damonte Coxie was the standout target, hauling in seven receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown.
Tyler Kahmann added three catches for 67 yards and another major.
Winnipeg came out aggressively and built an early advantage behind running back Brady Oliveira, who finished with 79 rushing yards.
The Bombers repeatedly created opportunities early, but Toronto’s defence tightened considerably after halftime.
The Turning Point
The Argos’ second-half defensive performance proved decisive. After throwing for 178 yards before halftime, Winnipeg quarterback Dru Brown was held to only 15 passing yards in the second half, while Toronto’s defence intercepted him twice.
The fourth quarter featured three lead changes, but Toronto ultimately made the final plays necessary to escape Winnipeg with the two-point victory.
