Toronto FC fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against New York City FC on Saturday night at BMO Field.
NYCFC opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Nicolás Fernández found the net. Toronto remained behind for much of the match but continued to push for an equalizer.
The breakthrough came in the 70th minute. Theo Corbeanu delivered an excellent ball across the goal, and substitute Dániel Sallói finished with a close-range tap-in to level the match at 1-1.
Neither side could produce a late winner, and the teams settled for a point. The draw also extended Toronto’s run of draws against NYCFC, following their earlier 1-1 meeting this season.
