POSTGAME QUOTES

HEAD COACH JOHN GRUDEN

On Ryan Tverberg:
I think our whole team over the last month has played pretty well. I think we’re on the plus side of a lot of different things. We’re trending in the right direction but he’s definitely one of those guys that has been as well. He was playing with Haymes and Barbolini but we figured with Lettieri out, we’d give him that opportunity (on the first line) and he took full advantage of it, played like he belonged.

On heading into the end of the season in a tight playoff race:
Winning is development and being in these tight games against teams like Laval – Laval is a really good team – you can really see what you have when you play games like this because there’s not much time and space. They’ve got good D, all four lines can play. It was a good test for us. I’m just glad our guys overcame that one goal deficit there to get two points.

ALEX NYLANDER (GAME-DECIDING GOAL IN THE SHOOTOUT)

On today’s game:
We were starting off with a really good forecheck. We were all on the same page, all five guys on the ice. We were creating chances and we did a really good job of it almost the whole game. We could have even had a couple more goals from our good forecheck and we were playing fast and we were reloading so our D could have good gaps. We played really good tonight. We’ve just got to keep it the same way.

On the third period:
(Laval) came back again today as well and we were able to tie it there at the end. We never quit here in our locker room and it shows that we’re strong, we’re ready and anything can happen out there if we keep believing in ourselves and that’s what we did tonight and we got the win.
