GOLDEN STATE VALKYRIES CAPTURE HISTORIC CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 68–63 VICTORY OVER ATLANTA DREAM

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — October 31

The Golden State Valkyries have made history.

In a dramatic winner-take-all Game 7, the Valkyries defeated the Atlanta Dream 68–63 at Chase Center to capture their first WNBA championship in franchise history.

Golden State becomes the first expansion franchise to win a championship in just its second season.

The victory also concludes the first-ever WNBA Finals to reach a Game 7.

FIRST HALF — ATLANTA TAKES CONTROL

The Dream came out determined to spoil Golden State’s championship celebration.

Atlanta’s defensive pressure and offensive execution helped establish control, limiting the Valkyries’ scoring opportunities and building a halftime advantage.

The Dream carried a 30–24 lead into the break, putting Golden State under pressure heading into the second half.

THIRD QUARTER — GABBY WILLIAMS TAKES OVER

The championship momentum changed when Gabby Williams caught fire.

Williams delivered an outstanding third quarter, scoring 15 points and keeping the Valkyries within striking distance.

She continued to attack offensively, hitting crucial shots and giving the home crowd plenty to celebrate.

FOURTH QUARTER — CHAMPIONSHIP MOMENT

The final quarter delivered the drama expected from a Game 7.

Atlanta refused to surrender, with Rhyne Howard tying the contest at 57 with 2:41 remaining.

But Williams answered with a massive three-pointer before converting two free throws.

Golden State’s defence held firm, and Veronica Burton converted two free throws with 5.1 seconds remaining to secure the championship.

The Chase Center erupted as the final buzzer sounded.
