New Argo’s Leadership: Welcome Mike Miller

This week the Argos officially announced that Mike Miller is the new head coach (and he’s not just a figurehead). Miller will also serve as the team’s offensive coordinator and handle play-calling.

Miller isn’t some random outsider; he’s been with the Argos since 2022 as quarterbacks coach. Under his watch, the team won two Grey Cups (2022 and 2024). Before Toronto, he coached in the NFL, Montreal in the CFL, and the XFL so the man brings serious experience.

What this could mean for next season

  • Stability & Continuity — promoting from within helps maintain familiarity, especially with returning players and offensive staff.
  • Fresh Energy & Accountability — Miller has spoken about wanting “smart, disciplined execution with urgency,” which could shake things up in a long 2025 season that saw the Argos miss the playoffs.
  • Offense Focus — as OC and head coach, Miller will be able to shape the attack the way he wants, potentially giving players a clearer identity and direction.

What else is in the mix

  • The departure of former head coach Ryan Dinwiddie (he’s now HC and GM of the Ottawa REDBLACKS). His exit closes the previous chapter for the Argos and signals a full-on reset.
  • Roster, schedule and logistics will matter as Toronto will play fewer home games than usual next year (because of external conflicts at BMO Field), so cohesion and consistency will be even more important.

What I’m hoping for (as a longtime fan)…

I’m expecting the new coach to bring a renewed sense of accountability and belief. I want the Argos building momentum early, executing with heart and building toward another shot at a championship. I’m hoping young players step up, the offense gets sharper, and the defense becomes more disruptive.

Maybe we see improved game management. Maybe we can build some identity again. Maybe we see a team that doesn’t just show up… but fights.

What kind of offence do you think Mike Miller might run (passes vs. run-heavy, target receivers, etc.) based on his background?
