BALTIMORE —
The Toronto Blue Jays’ 2026 season officially came to an end Wednesday as the Baltimore Orioles completed a doubleheader sweep with a 4–2 victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Toronto finished the season series finale at 77–82, while Baltimore improved to 78–81. The loss eliminated the Blue Jays from postseason contention.
Orioles Jump Ahead Early
Baltimore grabbed control in the first inning against Toronto starter CJ Van Eyk.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand delivered a two-run single, scoring two Orioles and putting Baltimore ahead 2–0.
Colton Cowser later added an RBI double to make it 3–0.
Encarnacion-Strand struck again in the fourth inning, launching a solo home run for his 11th homer of the season and extending Baltimore’s advantage to 4–0.
Toronto’s Offense Struggles
The Blue Jays were held off the scoreboard until the ninth inning.
Toronto finally broke through when Davis Schneider connected for a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 4–2 and giving the Jays a final opportunity.
Baltimore closer Félix Bautista shut the door, however, securing the victory.
Pitching
Trey Gibson was the story for Baltimore, throwing 6.2 innings, allowing only three hits while striking out seven and walking two.
For Toronto, CJ Van Eyk took the loss after allowing four runs. The Orioles’ pitching staff kept the Blue Jays’ lineup quiet for most of the afternoon.
Standout Performers
Baltimore — Christian Encarnacion-Strand: 2-for-3, two runs, three RBIs and a home run.
Baltimore — Trey Gibson: 6.2 innings, seven strikeouts and only three hits allowed.
Toronto — Davis Schneider: Two-run ninth-inning home run that provided Toronto’s only runs of the game.
The Bigger Picture
The defeat formally ended Toronto’s playoff hopes. The Blue Jays entered the doubleheader needing to avoid elimination, but Baltimore won both games, leaving Toronto with a 77–82 record and no path to the postseason.
Toronto now turns its attention to the final series of the regular season, with the Cincinnati Reds scheduled to visit Rogers Centre beginning September 25.
