Basketball Teams Qualifying For Paris Olympics, Angel Reese Breaks Record, Upsets At Wimbledon

BASKETBALL

The basketball teams are now set for the Paris Olympics. The US, Canada, France, Australia, South Sudan, Japan, Serbia, and Germany qualified weeks ago, and Brazil, Spain, Puerto Rico, and Greece qualified over the weekend. Greece is back in the running after not qualifying since 2008. Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo broke down in tears when the team made the cut.

Chicago Sky’s 7th pick in the draft, Angel Reese, is on fire. In only her 20th game as a professional, she broke Candice Parker’s 14-year record of double-doubles for 12 consecutive games. Reese had her 13th successive double-double this week against the Seattle Storm.

TENNIS

There were big upsets at Wimbledon this week. #2 seed Coco Gauff lost to #19 seed Emma Navarro, and the men’s #1, Jannik Sinner, lost to #5 ranked Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev will face Carlos Alcaraz.
