Game Preview: Leafs face the red-hot Washington Capitals

The Toronto Maple Leafs (40-22-9) vs. The Washington Capitals (36-26-9) tonight at Scotiabank Arena.

Toronto is looking to bounce back following a 6-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.

This is the last meeting between Toronto and Washington this season. The Leafs have won both games against the Capitals this season.

The Capitals come into tonight’s game on a three-game winning streak. Washington is 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

Morgan Rielly will miss his second straight game with an upper-body injury.

Auston Matthews is a game-time decision with an illness. Matthews has 11 points in his last five games.

William Nylander has 10 points in his last seven games.

Ilya Samsonov will dress tonight and backup.

Joseph Woll makes his third straight start.

Charlie Lindgren is the confirmed starter for the Capitals.

The puck drop for tonight’s game is at 7:00 p.m. on Sportsnet Ontario.
