Game Preview: Leafs look to clinch a playoff spot against the Lightning

Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs (43-22-9) vs. The Tampa Bay Lightning (41-26-7).

The Maple Leafs are looking to extend their winning streak to four games. They are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. 

Toronto’s defence will get a boost as Morgan Rielly returns to the lineup after missing the last four games with an upper-body injury. 

Mark Giordano will be a healthy scratch.

Tampa and Toronto will meet for the third time this season. Toronto won last time 6-5.

If the Leafs get at least one point tonight, they will clinch a playoff spot.

Tampa’s offence is always something to watch out for. Nikita Kucherov has four points in his last three games. 

Brayden Point has 17 points in his last nine games.

The Lightning are 8-1-1 in their last 10.

Andrei Vasilevskiy is the confirmed starter for the Lightning. It will be his first meeting against Toronto since game six of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Joseph Woll will start in the net for the Maple Leafs. 

Tonight’s game is at 7:00 p.m. on Sportsnet.
