Game Preview: Matthews chases 70 as Leafs host Devils

The Toronto Maple Leafs (46-23-9) take on the New Jersey Devils (37-37-5) tonight at Scotiabank Arena.

This matchup is the third and final meeting of the season between Toronto and New Jersey. The Maple Leafs won their last meeting with the Devils 5-2.

Toronto will try to extend their winning streak to four games.

Tyler Bertuzzi will look to continue his success against the New Jersey Devils. Bertuzzi had three points in Toronto’s win over the Devils on Tuesday. In 16 career games against the Devils, Bertuzzi has 21 points.

Auston Matthews continues his chase for 70 goals. Matthews scored his 66th goal of the season against New Jersey on Tuesday. Matthews set the salary-cap record for most goals in a single season.

Joel Edmundson will return to the lineup after missing the last eight games with an injury.

Ilya Lyubushkin returns to the lineup after having Tuesday night’s game off.

Connor Timmins and Jake McCabe will be out of the lineup. Sheldon Keefe says this is a maintenance day for McCabe, who has bumps and bruises.

The Devils come into the game on a two-game losing streak. New Jersey is 4-5-1 in their last 10 games.

Jake Allen is the expected starter for New Jersey.

Ilya Samsonov will start in the net for Toronto. Samsonov will look to extend his win streak to six games.
