Knies scores OT winner, as Leafs win game five

The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Boston Bruins 2-1 in overtime in game five of the Stanley Cup Playoffs

Toronto would open up the scoring in the first period with a goal from Jake McCabe.

The Leafs would hold the Bruins to only two shots in the first period, but the second shot Joseph Woll faced would go past him by a shot from Trent Fredric, who made 1-1.

This game was one of the best the Leafs have played all series. Both goalies would stand on their heads, not allowing anything by them.

With the game tied 1-1, it would need extra time. In the overtime period, Joseph Woll made huge saves to keep the Leafs season alive.

Two minutes into the overtime, John Tavares came down the wing and crashed the net. Matthew Knies would bury the rebound, and the Maple Leafs live to fight another day, winning 2-1.

Joseph Woll made 27 saves on 28 shots. Meanwhile, Jeremy Swayman made 31 saves on 32 shots.

Auston Matthews did not play in the game due to an illness.

Game six goes down Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena. The Puck drop is at 8:00p.m on Sportsnet/CBC.
