Leafs tie series against Boston

The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 to tie their best-of-seven series 1-1.

Toronto took a penalty 10 minutes into the game as Jake McCabe was called for cross-checking. The Bruins would make the Leafs pay as Morgan Geekie made it 1-0.

The Leafs answered the goal 14 seconds later as Max Domi put Auston Matthews’ rebound into the net, making it 1-1.

With seven seconds left in the first period, Toronto got sloppy, and David Pastrnak made no mistake on Pavel Zacha’s no-look pass to make it 2-1 Boston to close out the first period.

In the second period, Toronto kept getting chances but could not capitalize. The Leafs would get a power-power, and John Tavares’ slap shot beat Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark tying the game 2-2.

With the game tied in the third period, Max Domi made a flip pass to Auston Matthews. Matthews caught the puck and had a breakaway. He made no mistake putting the puck over Ullmark’s blocker to give the Leafs a 3-2 lead.

Toronto would hold to the lead and win the game.

Ilya Samsonov made saves when it mattered most—facing 29 shots and making 27 saves.

Linus Ullmark made 30 saves on 33 shots.

With the series now tied, it will return to Toronto for game three on Wednesday night. The puck drop will be at 7:00p.m on Sportsnet/CBC.
