Week 2 delivered a mix of statement wins, late-game drama and several major storylines as the NFL season began to take shape.

Biggest Storylines

Cowboys roll past Washington: Dallas defeated Washington 37-20, with Dak Prescott throwing four touchdown passes and becoming the Cowboys’ all-time leader in TD passes. 

Washington also lost quarterback Jayden Daniels to a dislocated left elbow. 

Bengals remain unbeaten: Cincinnati moved to 2-0 with a 20-6 victory over Houston. 

Ja’Marr Chase caught two touchdown passes from Joe Burrow, including a spectacular 32-yard grab. 

Chiefs survive in overtime: Kansas City edged Indianapolis 33-30 in overtime, with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 382 yards. 

Eagles escape Tennessee: Philadelphia rallied for a 24-20 victory over the Titans, scoring the decisive touchdown with just 14 seconds remaining.

Saints stun Baltimore: New Orleans erased a halftime deficit and defeated the Ravens 24-17. Tyler Shough’s late quarterback sneak put the Saints ahead, and Lamar Jackson’s interception in the final minute ended Baltimore’s comeback attempt. 

Patriots defense dominates: New England defeated Pittsburgh 20-3, holding Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers offense to only three points. 

Christian Barmore’s strip-sack produced a fourth-quarter defensive touchdown. 

Vikings win a defensive battle: Minnesota beat Chicago 9-3, forcing two Bears turnovers while Aaron Jones rushed for 105 yards.

Panthers crush Falcons: Carolina dominated Atlanta 34-3. Bryce Young threw three touchdowns, while Atlanta committed five turnovers.

Packers win in overtime: Green Bay defeated the Jets 20-17 in overtime on a 26-yard field goal.

Sunday Afternoon & Night

The 49ers defeated Miami 35-13, while Seattle dominated Arizona 31-7. Las Vegas also remained unbeaten, defeating the Chargers 26-14. 

Denver beat Jacksonville 20-13, and Cleveland defeated Tampa Bay 23-19.

The final game of the week saw the Rams defeat the Giants 28-6 on Monday night.

Week 2 Takeaways

2-0 teams: Buffalo, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Minnesota and others established early momentum.

0-2 concerns: Houston, Tennessee, Atlanta and several other clubs now face increased pressure.

Quarterback spotlight: Prescott, Allen, Mahomes, Burrow and Young all delivered significant performances.

Injuries: Jayden Daniels’ elbow injury was one of the week’s biggest developments. 

Early AFC picture: Buffalo, Cincinnati and Kansas City all produced notable Week 2 wins.

Early NFC picture: Philadelphia remained unbeaten, while Dallas, San Francisco and Seattle all made strong statements.

Week 2’s overall theme: the standings are beginning to separate, but with only two weeks completed, there is still a long way to go before the playoff picture becomes clear.
