The NHL’s new Hometown Remix jerseys are one of the more exciting uniform projects in recent hockey memory.

All 32 teams have designs inspired by their cities, fan cultures and franchise histories.

Some are outstanding throwbacks, while others take genuine risks with traditional team identities.

My favourite designs

1. Anaheim Ducks

The green, purple and gold combination brings back the Mighty Ducks era in a bold, nostalgic way.

The flying-V sleeve details give it personality without making the design feel outdated.

2. Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto’s design is a smart tribute to 100 years of franchise history.

The classic blue-and-white palette, remixed crest and subtle leaf-vein patterns deliver a modern look while respecting the team’s identity.

3. Buffalo Sabres

The remixed Goathead logo is an excellent use of franchise nostalgia.

It has an aggressive appearance and enough gold detailing to make the jersey stand out from Buffalo’s standard uniforms.

4. Nashville Predators

The country-inspired detailing makes this one of the collection’s most distinctive designs.

It connects the team to Nashville’s musical heritage instead of simply changing the colours.

5. New York Islanders

The Fisherman returns with a cleaner, updated look.

The coastal details and lighthouse shoulder patches give this jersey a strong Long Island identity.

What I like about the collection

Nostalgia: Teams are revisiting logos and styles that longtime fans remember.

Local identity: The best jerseys tell a story about the city rather than just featuring a different colour scheme.

Creative freedom: Designs such as Nashville’s country-inspired sweater show what happens when teams embrace a distinctive theme.

Collectibility: With 32 different designs, fans have plenty of options for jerseys and memorabilia.

What could be better

The biggest risk is losing the connection to a team’s traditional identity.

A remix should look different, but fans should still immediately recognize the franchise.

Some designs may also look better on a merchandise rack than during a fast-paced NHL game.

Final Thoughts

Hometown Remix program is a welcome addition to NHL hockey.

Anaheim gets my top spot for its throwback energy, while Toronto earns high marks for its understated, historic approach.

For the Maple Leafs specifically, I like the decision to evolve the classic crest rather than completely reinvent it.

That balance between tradition and modern design is what makes an alternate jersey successful.

My rule for a great remix: Make it bold enough to be memorable, but authentic enough that fans will still love wearing it years from now.

GOOD JOB NHL & FANATICS
