Canada equalized in the 22nd minute with an overhead kick that sailed over the keeper, making it 1-1. Then, in the 80th minute, Canadian striker Jonathan David made a beautiful long-range shot from outside the box to put Canada ahead, 2-1. It appeared that the match was decided, but in the 92nd minute, during stoppage time, a well-placed cross into the box allowed Luis Suarez to equalize for Uruguay, making it 2-2 and forcing the match into penalty shootouts, where Uruguay emerged victorious, 4-3.
Attention now shifts to tomorrow to determine the winner of the Copa America Cup 2024, as Argentina faces Colombia in the final match.
