Wren Sinclair Shocks the NXT Universe in Women’s Battle Royal
ORLANDO, Fla. — WWE NXT delivered a busy episode Tuesday night as the brand continued building toward Halloween Havoc, with a major 20-woman Battle Royal, Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic action and several heated rivalries taking center stage.
Zilla Fatu Def. Lexis King
Zilla Fatu opened the night with a physical victory over Lexis King.
BirthRight repeatedly tried to give King an advantage, but Fatu fought through the interference and eventually hit the Triple C to score the victory.
After the match, however, BirthRight surrounded Fatu and attacked him with a chair before trapping his hand between the steel steps. .
The assault added another chapter to Fatu’s increasingly heated battle with the faction.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
Hank Walker and Tank Ledger defeated Shido Ash and Viktor Zanov to advance in the tournament.
Ash and Zanov controlled portions of the match with their power and technical ability, but Hank and Tank eventually turned the momentum around.
Hank delivered a Bossman Slam and a clothesline before the team finished Ash for the victory.
Grayson Waller and Myles Borne
NXT Champion Grayson Waller appeared to celebrate retaining his championship before being confronted by Myles Borne.
Borne made it clear that the NXT Championship is now his priority.
Tony D’Angelo then entered the confrontation, leading to Waller announcing that Borne and D’Angelo will meet next week, with the winner earning a championship opportunity at Halloween Havoc.
Borne immediately attacked D’Angelo with a loaded fist, escalating the rivalry.
Shiloh Hill Def. Naraku by Disqualification
Shiloh Hill and Naraku battled in a hard-hitting rematch that ended in controversial fashion.
Naraku attempted to use his mist, but Hill moved out of the way and the mist struck referee Derek Sanders.
The official immediately called for the bell, awarding Hill the victory by disqualification.
The two continued fighting after the decision.
BirthRight Advances in the Dusty Classic
Charlie Dempsey and Lexis King of BirthRight defeated the Tokyo Bad Boys to advance in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
The Tokyo Bad Boys impressed with their fast-paced, lucha-inspired offense, but BirthRight eventually took control.
Dempsey finished the match with a suplex to secure the victory.
Wren Sinclair Wins the 20-Woman Battle Royal
The night’s biggest surprise came in the main event.
Twenty women from NXT and several partner promotions competed for a shot at NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan.
The field included Zaria, Xia Brookside, Indi Hartwell, La Catalina, Kiana James, Nikkita Lyons, Ivy Nile, Thea Hail, Kali Armstrong, Lizzy Rain and others.
The final stages came down to Lizzy Rain, La Catalina, Kiana James and Kali Armstrong, with Armstrong eventually eliminating James and Rain.
Armstrong appeared to have won, but the surprise twist changed everything.
Lady Shani, who had seemingly been eliminated earlier, returned to the ring and eliminated Armstrong. Shani then removed her mask — revealing herself to actually be Wren Sinclair.
Wren Sinclair won the Battle Royal, earning a championship opportunity against Kelani Jordan.
