Today’s matches brought a blockbuster match between France and Belgium, which didn’t live up to the hype initially intended and Portugal vs Slovenia.
France and Belgium was intended to be a tough match, especially regarding star power from both sides. But France dominated the whole match unfortunately not being able to score a goal. Belgium tried their best but a costly mistake led to an own goal in the 85th minute of the match by Belgium’s Vertonghen to take France into the quarter-finals of the Euros.
Portugal vs Slovenia didn’t fail to disappoint. Portugal was much stronger but Slovenia defended well and kept the game going until the penalty shootout. This being the first match of the Euros so far to reach the penalties, where Portugal won 3-0 to reach the quarter-finals, for the 7th time, the last being in 2016 when they won the competition.
Tomorrow the competition comes closer to an end with round of 16 matches between Romania vs Netherlands and Austria vs Turkiye.
