Tonight’s NXT was a strong build toward NXT Heatwave, with several championship contenders established and the biggest development coming in the NXT Championship picture.
Zilla Fatu officially entered the NXT Championship picture. After signing with WWE, Fatu was added to the championship match involving Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana, creating a major four-way title confrontation for Heatwave.
EK Prosper won the Fatal 4-Way to become the No. 1 contender for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.
Jackson Drake earned a shot at the NXT North American Championship after a chaotic contest involving significant outside interference.
Nattie Neidhart defeated Thea Hail in their grudge match, using the Sharpshooter to secure the victory.
Lexis King retained the WWE Speed Championship against Lucien Price.
The women’s division also advanced, with Kali Armstrong and Kelani Jordan defeating Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey and setting up further championship implications.
The strongest aspect of the episode was its Heatwave storyline progression. Zilla Fatu’s arrival gives the NXT title scene an explosive new element, while Cruz Montana and Grayson Waller remain credible challengers to Tony D’Angelo.
The episode wasn’t built around one definitive five-star match, but it successfully accomplished what a go-home/build episode should: advance multiple feuds, establish contenders and make Heatwave feel more important.
