The Toronto Blue Jays were shut out 3-0 by the Chicago White Sox at Rogers Centre, dropping the rubber match of the three-game series. Toronto’s offense struggled all afternoon, managing just four hits as Chicago’s pitching staff controlled the game from start to finish.
The turning point came in the sixth inning. After Andrew Benintendi’s sacrifice fly had already given Chicago a 1-0 lead, Colson Montgomery launched a solo home run to double the advantage. Later in the inning, Braden Montgomery added an RBI single to make it 3-0, giving the White Sox all the offense they would need.
Blue Jays starter Trey Yesavage deserved a better fate. The right-hander struck out a season-high nine batters over six innings, but surrendered three runs on timely White Sox hitting. Chicago starter Sean Burke was outstanding, allowing just two hits over 6⅔ scoreless innings before the bullpen finished the four-hit shutout.
Toronto had few scoring opportunities and could never string together enough offense to threaten. The Blue Jays finished the afternoon without a run and dropped two of three games in the series.
