A remarkable return

Leonard returns to the franchise where he delivered the 2019 NBA championship, winning Finals MVP after one of the greatest playoff runs in Raptors history.

The deal was originally agreed to on June 30 but was held up while the NBA investigated the Clippers’ salary-cap violations. The league subsequently fined Los Angeles $30 million and took away five future first-round picks.

What it means for Toronto

The Raptors now have an imposing veteran star alongside Scottie Barnes, dramatically raising expectations for the 2026–27 season.

The bottom line: After more than two months of uncertainty, Kawhi Leonard is officially a Toronto Raptor again.
