Max Domi will miss the start of Toronto Maple Leafs training camp and remains out indefinitely because of complications from offseason surgery. General manager John Chayka confirmed the update Friday.

The Leafs announced in May that Domi had undergone surgery to address an injury he played through during the 2025–26 season. The club has not publicly disclosed the specific nature of the original injury or the surgery.

Status: Out indefinitely

Training camp: Will miss the start

Injury: Not officially disclosed by the Leafs

Issue: Complications following offseason surgery

Return date: No official timetable

Domi, 31, recorded 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points in 80 games last season.

Chayka said Domi will be evaluated when the team reconvenes and indicated that the player intends to address his situation publicly in the near future.

Bottom line: Domi’s absence is now a significant uncertainty heading into the 2026–27 season. Until Toronto provides a medical update, there is no reliable return date.
